B283 - In pursuit of a Bachelor's

A lot has happened since I last posted on this blog. I have been gainfully employed at a large soft drink distributor and have started pursuing a Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration. I had started going to college when Elizabeth and I first got married in 1996, but quit after a few frustrating semesters, feeling that I was simply wasting my time.
Well guess what? Time was still wasted and 15 years later I finally have come to the realization that a college degree is an essential building block to a career! It doesn’t prove that I am any smarter than anybody else, but it gets you past the many gate keepers that look at your resume to see if you have the increasingly required college degree!
Anyways, this new entries are a part of a requirement for one of the business classes I’m taking, namely “Small Business Creation”.
Another part is that I accept a “$100 Entrepreneur Challenge”. I am to come up with 5 small business ideas, none of them to cost more than $20 to start, but able to generate $100 in profit over the course of the semester. All proceed go to a candidate picked from kiva.org.
I’m not sure yet on the 5 business ideas, $20 to generate $100 seems a lofty goal, but I have picked a recipient to win any proceeds from my business. It’s a lady in FL that is married to a former serviceman who has been in declining health for the last few years. She is looking for funds to renovate and improve their home, so she can better provide for her husband. Let’s see how much profit I can generate for her!
